Travel in search of the Midnight Sun
When the latitude of origin of the traveler is closer to the tropic that the arctic circle, there are natural phenomena that can convert in exceptional travel that already are quite an experience.
One of these events is, without doubt, the arrival of the Midnight Sun that has the charm of create White Nights at the start of summer in the Nordic countries.
The Midnight Sun
The Midnight Sun is a phenomenon produced by the inclination of the axis of rotation of the Earth, causing in latitudes around the polar circles there is a period of time in which the sun does not come to put on the horizon. The closer it is the polo, the greater the number of white nights.
This phenomenon has its culmination in the summer solstice, the June 21. Thus, the best time to savor is in the dates close to the last half of June and the first of July.
Quiksilver Pro Argentina
Quiksilver Pro Argentina
Two of my greatest pleasures (which are not as usual as i would like in my life) are travel and make surf. If there is a possibility to make those two things at the same time the pleasure is multiplied, and the desire to travel tend to infinity. And a good mix of these two pleasures comes in May 2009 in Argentina: the mythical Quiksilver Pro Argentina, in the cliff of La Paloma (Mar del Plata).
The Quiksilver Pro Argentina is from 2004 one of the classic events of the surf locally. In its sixth edition (the latter year), the most prominent surfers of the country will play three places vacancies in the selected national and $10,000 award. That selected national (three to win here, and the current champion argentine -Marcelo Rodriguez-) is going to run in the ISA World Surfing Games in August of this year, in Costa Rica.
The Dove for its part, is located south of Mar del Plata, and is, with its mythical break and the cliff that supports, one of the best beaches argentines to surf.
In the edition 2009 of Quick Pro there is no category Trials, bone that any surfer can recorded and running in the first round. The inscriptions are until April 29 and already can be done in the web of the ASA (it is not very difficult the acronym: Association of Surf Argentina).
The waiting period for the VI Quiksilver Pro Argentina starts the next April 30 and ends on May 30 2009, and that is where they are going to be the main surfers of the country.
For which we do not have a level incredible but enjoy the Surf, is without doubt a very good show for even if it is going to look and envy.
Surf en La Pororoca
Surf en La Pororoca (MDQ)
“MDQ” is a program argentine done by two young brothers showing in video the adventures of their travel (since we would like to all do something so).
The two surfers, the two marplatenses, van traveling the world and filming the sports more ends, the most outsiders, the adventures most incredible, and the people who are crossing around the globe.
The program itself is pin for anyone who likes to travel, but the special edition of “The Pororoca” it seemed to me simply spectacular.
The Pororoca is a wave giant, the longest of the world (comparable to a tsunami, which both knows by the news) that forms produced by the equinox (the alignment of the earth, the moon and the sun) once a year in the Amazon River. “Pororoca” means “Great noise destroyer” so that you des an idea of how hard it is.
Is mixed the ocean and the river, and produces this wall of water of between 1.5 and 4 meters in height that moves to between 15 and 25 kilometers per hour.
The mixed the two together with part of the jungle (which the Pororoca sweeps pulling trees and other), are mixed sharks, crocodiles, snakes, piranhas, dolphins and until candors, some fish transparent of up to 15 centimeters who get to the body by holes (especially vagina, anus and penis), open inside and suck the blood of the body.
With these dangers, a doctor, a motorbike of water, a boat more precarious than the ideal, and a record guinness brazilian (the one more time remained standing in a wave), the brothers Weinbaum, drivers of the program “MDQ for the whole world”, were (as they say) the first argentines in surfing the Pororoca.
The round the world in sailboat
I just relieve an update that made him to a story that half an hour ago kept in markers to monitor. It is a girl californian in 16 years that is trying to be the younger in turn around the world in sailboat.
The note had to be cut off one of the communications with their parents and that was missing since last night. So the touch i remembered our Laura Dekker (New Zealand 13 years with the same dream) and i thought it was it.
Taking into account (still speaking of sailboats) that Alberto Canessa (who lived in a sailboat in Puerto Madero) died a few months after english of his life in the blog, statistics of characters not elected us was playing in favor, I thought.
But the positive not only is that it was not the same sailing (it is called Abby Sunderland), but also the found alive and without problems. In fact remains trip.
But there are more matters positive: once we already know that is safe, we can laugh of the opinions of the note. There are several horrified because the parents give such permission (item that we discussed in the post on Laura), and some like these:
* “The island needed…”
* “The ISLAND YET HAS NOT ENDED WITH HER….”
* “The Great white sharks in the area have been due to the boots.”
* “It is good. To this have lijao pirates”.
* “Good in the rest of newspapers say that has already appeared. Sure you have spent the morning putting the title more scandalous that find and to the little girl has had time to appear.”
And one that, in his way, releasing a truth curious:
“Go world of inconsistencies. In Spain a minor cannot go to a tour of the college without authorization and the other side of the world loses a girl who gave the round the world alone in a sailboat.”

Destination Travel : Great Holidays in the Canary Islands
If you’re on vacation this winter, there is a great chance to visit one of the Canary Islands. Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are the four most famous, but you can also one of the smaller islands of La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro.
The islands off the coast of Africa, have a climate that attracts travelers from all over Europe, especially in winter. Almost every day, at least eight hours of sunshine and a temperature of 19-27 degrees all winter. For summer is hotter still, but the climate is very suitable for a relaxing stay.
The most visited islands are Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Gran Canaria with the cities of interest like the English beach, Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogan in the south, ideal for sunbathing and beach life. Tenerife, with cities such as Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos and Puerto de la Cruz, perhaps a little “more to offer in nature, and this is the highest mountain in Spain, Teide, with its 3787 meters.
My favorite in both islands Melenara to the small beach on the east side of the island of Gran Canaria is almost no tourists here and if you want to experience real Canary Beach Life After This is a the most beautiful beaches of black sand, but a great atmosphere with many small bars and live music on weekends.
In Tenerife, you must visit the city of St. Ursula, the hills of Puerto de la Cruz. This is not the place for your work, because we see many clouds TAN, but a good place to see escape the mass tourism in all seasons. A small town with some excellent tapas bars lazy.
If you ever want to go, and forget all the complexities that are not, to explore other fantastic places in these islands. There is much to see that only the hotels and beaches. Rent a car for a day or two, and enjoy the beautiful landscape of mountains or in small villages outside of bars and nightclubs and Buzz Humm.
